Questions about your background check report
Who prepares my background report?
Your report is prepared by OffenderSearch LLC, the consumer reporting agency. Attestcare is its screening brand for healthcare employers.
What does the report include?
Depending on your employer's package: criminal records, sex offender registry results from every state, healthcare exclusion lists (OIG LEIE, SAM.gov and state Medicaid) and nurse-aide registry findings.
How do I get a copy of my report?
You can request a copy of your file from OffenderSearch LLC through offendersearch.app. If an employer is considering an adverse decision based on your report, you will also receive a copy with a pre-adverse action notice.
Something in my report is wrong. How do I dispute it?
Disputes are handled by the consumer reporting agency, OffenderSearch LLC, not by Attestcare or your employer. Start your dispute through offendersearch.app and include what is inaccurate and why. Let your employer know you have opened a dispute.
I received a pre-adverse action notice. What does it mean?
The employer is considering a decision based in whole or in part on your report. The notice includes the report and a summary of your rights. You have time to respond or dispute before any final decision.
My invitation link expired or I didn't get it.
Ask the employer who invited you to resend it. They can send a fresh link from their dashboard.
Does the check include my credit, an SSN trace, a drug test or fingerprints?
No. Attestcare screenings do not include credit reports, SSN traces, drug tests or fingerprinting.
